Vacation Bible School 2021

Bible School was condensed to a Sunday afternoon starting with lunch in the fellowship hall then meeting up at the North Fork Recreation Area picnic shelter where we split into four groups for scripture discussion from Peter (AKA Layman), singing, craft, and fishing. We finished off the day with a fish dinner in the picnic shelter catered from Grayson’s Landing Restaurant at the park lodge.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Kathy Tabor for organizing this event and also to ALL of the folks who helped by bringing stuff, teaching, singing, working and playing making for a fantastic Church family experience.

Several photos are posted below of the activities.

Here we all are Sunday morning right after the morning worship service in our nice clean matching shirts all cool and dry in the air conditioning we are blessed with.
Beverly was there too taking the photo of everybody else.
Kathy giving us the plan for the day, it’s nice to have a good leader who knows what’s going on.
Any questions? then time for lunch.
A quick sack lunch ready and waiting in the fellowship hall thanks to the efforts of some of our members.
A sack lunch may seem light, but a sandwich, chips, rice crispy treat and cold tea or water is just what we needed before a hot afternoon at the park.

The next several photos are just of folks having lunch together in the fellowship hall before we departed for North Fork.

Brother Jimmy has been hard at it already delivering the morning message.
Transportation around the picnic area
Volunteers using golf carts made getting around easier on a warm day. Brother Jimmy is almost ready for the 4×4 trails.
Jacquie and Layman at the campsite getting ready for the first class group
Layman dressed as Peter telling stories about Jesus to the class on the bank and some folks who were swimming nearby.
With the heat index nearing 100 degrees you have to admire the effort here to dress and teach in character.
This is one class group on the bank listening
This is another class group with Layman
Sarah leading us in some songs during the music session, it is nice to have people who can sing well to lead those of us who can just….well sing.

Hot day requires lots of fluid.
Veronica, Jill, and Sue setting up the craft area.
Jill explaining the craft project.
Jill teaching about the ancient “ichthys” or “ichthus” symbol used by early Christians as a means of identifying each other.
Painting our own ichthys on a rock
The craft area was getting pretty warm mid afternoon.

Jody
Jody and Ryan down by the lake helping folks to fish.
Catch of The Day!!!!!! Leslie caught the only live fish, Jerry did hook a dead one, and Tim found quite a few over at the state park lodge that were all ready for supper.
Bible school always needs a round of “Father Abraham”
Almost no cell signal at North Fork.
Everyone gathered in the picnic shelter together for Fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, and macaroni & cheese for dinner.
And some really detailed fish cookies that almost looked to good to eat……almost.
