Archived Wednesday Evening Services prior to 5/25/22
Letter from Our Pastor
I come to you today with greetings from the Garfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In behalf of myself and the leadership of the church we want to inform you of our plans to resume in person worship services of the Garfield CP Church. Before getting into the details of our plans, I want to thank each of you for your patience as we have tried to ensure the health and well-being of our membership here at the church. We have tried to move slowly and with much caution with resuming our schedule of services. We are in total agreement it is time to move forward with the work of God in our community. This past few weeks has been quite an ordeal for everyone. I have missed each of you being in the worship experience each week. I appreciate the efforts of everyone who has made our online worship possible-this includes Mrs. Kathy Tabor, all those who have come to sing each week, and Brother Tim & Brother Greg for working to get the services online each week.
Beginning June 7 at 11:00 am, we will resume our Sunday morning worship. This will be somewhat different than what we normally do. We will have the service outside under the pavilion. There is a good seating capacity under the pavilion-however I encourage those who desire so to bring a lawn chair and spread out on the lawn. I feel like we can spread out and have no problems complying with the social distance guidelines. I encourage family units to try to sit together. If you so desire, you may bring a canopy for your family to be seated under. Bathrooms will be available in the fellowship hall only-they will be equipped with hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. People who feel a need to remain in their vehicle may park on the front row of the parking lot in the front of the pavilion and remain in their vehicle.
In limiting our contact with each other, we will not pass offering plates. There will be an offering box under the pavilion to place your offering or you may continue to do what you have been doing. We will not be doing congregational singing-instead we will have individuals doing special singing-only hindrance is we will not have a piano available. Family Legacy will be doing some singing for us each week. I appreciate their willingness to help under these conditions and they have offered to allow us to use their PA system.
Be aware I want you to feel safe in being at church. If you feel more secure in wearing a mask, I encourage you to do so. CDC guidelines recommends face coverings for all congregants. At this time, we will not have children activities or Sunday School. These will continue on-line and as soon as possible we will add these activities to our schedule. We will refrain from handshaking and hugging as we normally do. If you appear to have any symptoms of COVID-19, please seek medical care.
Beginning on June 10th, we will resume our Wednesday evening service in the sanctuary. I feel like we can accommodate our Wednesday evening crowd and comply with social distance.
May I say to those who have been following us online, we will continue to upload all our services online. There will be a delay before you can get the services online. The service will be recorded live then uploaded to our website. This takes some time.
So let me end by saying I’m excited about being back together. I’m excited about what I believe God desires to do in our local church. Remember on Feb. 26th we fasted and prayed that God would send His reviving spirit throughout the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. At that time, we had no idea what was in front of us. Maybe we are ripe for Revival.
In Christ,
Br. Jimmy & Oletta
Service for 4/29/2020 below. Let Brother Jimmy know if you are watching the services by email pastor@garfieldcpc.org
During the church service below Brother Jimmy mentions the funeral home in Greensburg Kentucky that is taking care of Wade’s arrangements, they are Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home. I spoke with Walt Parrott Tuesday evening and obituary and other information will be posted on their site after they meet with his family Wednesday morning.
Wade’s funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 central time and Brother Jimmy has been asked to do the funeral. Of course they are under the same restrictions there as we are here so it is a limited service of 10 family members. Please keep the family and Brother Jimmy in your prayers as he travels to conduct the service.
You can click on the link in blue letters below to visit the funeral home website.
